Thank You! 4.4.07

April 4, 2007

Thanks for checking out my music!

Thank you all for visiting my site and listening to my music. Right now is a period of exciting new directions for me in all areas of my life, especially music. The first song "Rhymes of Reason" was recorded in the morning and afternoon at my home studio on 2.14.2007, on a 16 track recorder. Big thanks to Mark who engineered the session and layed down the bass and bongos. We had a great time and I got to record my first drum track. It was my favorite kind of day; making music, working well, and having fun.

Thanks again,

Zach

Congratulations to Maggie and Ryan on the birth of Baby Boy Brady...What a great blessing.

Detroit Block Party 8.1.08

Detroit Block Party

I was invited to come and sing some songs at a neighborhood block party in Detroit. I would like to thank Steve Hamilton for inviting me. I would also like to thank all of the kids who participated by clapping and dancing and singing along; you all made the experience alot of fun and I'd love to do it again in the future.

"The Plastic People of the Universe" 9.8.08

9.8.08

The Blind Pig, Ann Arbor

I had the honor last night of opening for "The Plastic People of the Universe" at the lengendary Blind Pig in Ann Arbor. "The Plastic People of the Universe" are from the Czech Republic and formed in 1968. Their sound is one of a kind and they have an unparalelled history, experiencing heavy resistance from the communist party in the 1970's and imprisonment for their music. Search the band's name on the internet and read the history of the band it's fascinating! They are currently on a U.S. tour and you can see tour dates and hear their music from their myspace page. It was a very inspiring night. Little Cow from Budapest is opening for them on their tour and they are definately worth checking out as well. Thanks to Kristen and Ben from Yonas Media for having be part of a historic night. Thanks to Zach Pliska for coming out and performing with me on such short notice and to Rock Candy promotions for booking the show

Fam Fest 2008 Windsor, Canada 9.14.08

Fam Fest 2008 in Windsor was a good experience. It was nice to see many of the people we had met last winter at the phog lounge again, like Katie and Rosie who were dancing and singing along. I would like to thank Salt of the Chief Cornerstone very much for allowing us to use their drums and amplifier. Congratulations to them on releasing their CD. Thanks to the organizers of Fam Fest for having us be part of it, and Frank tending the Bar at the Phog serving up tasty Pilsner. Thanks to Chad Livingood for shooting the pictures posted above and being patient while we were searched on the way home. The scene in Windsor is full of talented and friendly people, we're happy to participate in it.

9.20.08 3rd Annual Peace Day Ann Arbor, MI

9.20.08 Afternoon

3rd annual Peace Day, Ann Arbor, MI

Thanks to Kevin for having me out to perform. I commend him for his vision and his passion for creating connections between people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. I learned about several organizations doing good works like Children of Abraham an interfaith student organization providing humanitarian aid across the globe. It was an inspiring day and I wish Kevin and all the other students all the best in their efforts to make the world a better place by acting in courageous and thoughtful ways.

MidPoint Music Festival 9.27.08

MidPoint Music Festival 2008

We drove down to Cincinnati on saturday morning arriving in the late afternoon. The performance that night went great. We played at Buddhakhan's to a relativley full house. The audience was really into our music. It was Zach Pliska and myself performing. Julia helped out with merch and sold quite a few CD's. It was refreshing to be in an environment where people were genuinely there to check out indy bands playing their own songs. My voice starting going out after the first song and I just kept going, gave it my all, and made a little joke of it with the audience, which broke the ice and from then on it was just a raw emotional performance. We went and saw some other bands and took in the vibes of the festival which were positive and welcoming. I would definately like to do it again next year and go for the full three days.
